Using the text editor and tables

The RigBridge Text Editor is a built-in tool for writing and formatting operational content. It’s designed to produce clear, standardized instructions for use in RigFlow, ensuring consistency across devices and environments.

Why are some formatting features removed when I paste content?

To ensure all instructions are easily readable and properly formatted for export to RigFlow, the editor strips most external formatting. This includes font styles, alignments, and colors that don’t align with supported settings.

What types of formatting can I use in the editor?

You can use:

  • Bold, italic, and underline

  • Bullets and numbered lists

  • Limited color formatting (red, purple, and blue)

  • Tables

  • Reference insertion using the / shortcut or clicking on the icon in the text editor.

What are the limitations when using tables in the editor?

  • Wide tables with many columns may be restricted or cause display issues.

  • Tables pasted from Word or Excel may lose formatting.

Can I copy and paste content from Word or Excel?

Yes, but keep in mind:

  • Most formatting (fonts, borders, alignment) will be removed.

  • Only basic structure may carry over.

  • After pasting, use the Clear_format.png Clear Formatting button to clean up issues, then reformat using the editor toolbar.

Why are certain features like custom fonts and colors disabled?

To maintain a clean and consistent layout in RigFlow, which displays content to rig crews, RigBridge disables custom fonts and restricts color use. This ensures that all users see clear, legible content regardless of their device or connection speed.

How can I avoid formatting errors when pasting content?

  • Use Ctrl+Shift+V to paste without formatting (Ctrl+Command+V for iOS).

  • When copying tables, make sure to select the entire table before pasting. If only part of the table is selected, it may be pasted as plain text instead of preserving the table format.

  • Clear formatting immediately after pasting.

  • Manually reapply formatting using the editor tools.

Is there a way to insert references quickly?

Yes. Use the / shortcut to insert properties or attachments quickly, instead of navigating through the toolbar.

What should I do if my content isn’t saving?

Look for the Changes_saved.png save indicator at the bottom right of the editor. It shows whether your changes are saved, especially useful when working on rigs with slow internet connections.
